After that in 1897, a person from Boston named Hosea W. Libbey originated an e-bike that was driven by a double electric motor. But later on, it was re-invented by Giant Lafree electric-bikes. In 1898, Mathew J. Steffens patented a rear-wheel e-bike that has a driving belt at the outside edge of the wheel.


Other developments like power control and torque sensors were developed later (the 1990s). With the period of time, the production of prototypes of e-bikes grew mainly from 1993 to 2004. It was about 35% which affected the production of regular bikes from 107 million units and they started decreasing. If we talk about 2007, many cities thought of making e-bikes because of their popularity. By charging its battery for about 8 hours, it can provide a range of 40 to 48 km (20km/h).

There are many benefits of riding a ebike, and we all know them very well. They are fast than regular bicycles. They provide a clean journey than cars. It is great fun to ride them and at the same refreshing. They can boost both mental and physical wellness.


With an e-bike, one can make a longer ride as it depends on the battery whereas on another bicycle you have to pedal and you may feel tired. But at the same time posturing in the same position may boost muscle endurance and strength. Another benefit is that a longer ride may increase metabolism rate because our body starts adapting its rate of metabolism that means you burn more calories.
