Take care of your teeth: Achieving healthy teeth takes care of a lifetime. According to Warrenton dentist, seven tips to improve your oral health.


1. Don't Go to Bed Without Brushing Your Teeth:


It's no secret that the general recommendation is to brush at least twice a day. Still, many of us neglect brushing our teeth at night. But brushing before bed removes germs and plaque that accumulate throughout the day.


2. Brush Properly:


The way you brush is just as important. Doing a bad job of cleaning your teeth is almost as bad as not brushing. Take your time moving the toothbrush in gentle, circular motions to remove the plaque. Unstructured plaque can be hard, leading to calculus buildup and gangrene.


3. Don't Neglect Your Tongue:


Plaque can also form on your tongue. Not only can this cause bad breath, but it can also cause other oral health problems. Gently brush your tongue whenever you brush your teeth.


4. Use a fluoride toothpaste:


There are more important elements to look for than white and energy flavors when it comes to toothpaste. No matter which version you choose, make sure it contains fluoride.

Although fluoride is a concern for people who are being tested on how it affects other areas of health, it remains a key ingredient in oral health. It is because fluoride is an important defense against tooth decay. It works by fighting germs that can cause decay, as well as protecting your teeth.


5. Treat Flossing as Important as Brushing:


Many people who brush regularly ignore the floss. "Flossing is not just about getting sugar food, or small pieces of broccoli stuck between your teeth," says DDS, Jonathan Schwartz. "It's a way to sharpen the gums, reduce plaque, and help reduce inflammation in the area."

Flashing once a day is usually enough to reap these benefits.


6. Don't let Flossing Difficulties Stop You:


Flossing can be difficult, especially for young children and the elderly with arthritis. Instead of giving up, look for tools that can help you brush your teeth. Easy-to-use dental flossers from a drugstore can make a difference.


7. Consider Mouthwash:


Advertisements consider mouthwashes essential for good oral health, but many people leave them because they don't know how they work. Schwartz says Mouthwash helps in three ways: it reduces the amount of acid in the mouth, cleans the area around the gums and bristles, and re-minerals the teeth. "Mouthwashes are an adjunct tool to help balance things," he explained. "I think in children and the elderly, where brushing and flossing may not be ideal." Yeah, Al, that sounds pretty crap to me; it looks like Mouthwash isn't for me either.


Ask your dentist for specific mouthwash recommendations. Some brands are best for children, and those teeth are sensitive. A mouthwash version is also available.
